For the last fifteen years, this domain has been undergoing a profound renewal, both quantitative, as regards the number of authors and works analysed, and ‘qualitative’, with the blossoming of approaches to and methodologies of onomastic analysis. In this article, we confine our study to onomastic research on Italian texts. We first discuss the various forms of this critical interest with respect to the object of analysis, i.e. names and the nature of their relations with the texts and authors (name of the author, titles, names offering many interpretative implications, general onomastic typologies in the corpus of an author, an entire literary genre or subgenre, etc.). We then turn to the methodologies employed in the analysis itself (theoretical reflection, “noms parlants” (names descriptively true of their denotata), names and context, names and intertextuality, names and narrative structure, aspects of the form of names, etc.).
En Italie, une attention systématique sur la fonction du nom propre dans les textes littéraires est tout à fait récente.
