Haircuts, Highlights, and Hooplah

I went and got my haircut today.  My hair stylist is so awesome -- she's sweet, kind, and one of the most kindred spirits I've ever met.  Above all -- she's giving and somehow manages to give of herself all the time and still manage to a business owner.  Now that's talent.

I stopped by Panera Bread on the way to my haircut and picked her up a Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich.  She shared it with her son (see -- more giving -- hehe).  She cracks me up.

After I had my highlights put in, my stylist let me lay on the sink after washing my hair -- I TOTALLY FELL ASLEEP.  LOL.  She was like, "Um... it's time to wake up!"  LOL.  I felt like my Mom was waking me up for school and I was pretending to already be getting ready.  After she got done washing my hair I started to fall asleep in her chair as she was cutting my hair, too.  She was like, "You so work too much!"  I kind of gave her that knowing stare like, "Yep, pretty much."

So, as I sit here and yawn, I'm just about getting ready to go out for a bite to eat with a friend.  A cobb salad sounds awesome tonight, so I think I shall have one!

Be good everyone,

Me

PS:  My students are sooooooooooo funny!  They crack me up and are the joy of my life right now!  Hehe...

PPS:  Look at the cheap pet carrier that someone came up with below...

New Technology To Detect Breast Cancer
The 56-year-old woman was relieved: her mammogram showed no signs of breast cancer. Just two weeks later at a follow-up exam, a magnetic resonance image illuminated a glaring mass the size of a walnut. The tumor was malignant, and its detection demonstrated all too clearly the disparity between two imaging techniques - x-ray mammograms versus magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) -- that have opposing strengths and weaknesses. ......

Results From The NSABP Breast Cancer Prevention Trial
Scientists from the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) who conducted the landmark Breast Cancer Prevention Trial (BCPT), report a seven-year and final update of the trial results in the November 16, 2005, Journal of the National Cancer Institute*. In this final report, reductions in breast cancer incidence among participants taking tamoxifen were found to be very similar compared to those reported in 1998 when initial findings from the BCPT were released. The conclusion is supported by the observation that the incidence rate of breast cancer was relatively constant through seven years of follow-up among women who received tamoxifen and by the fact that the rate remained stable for at least two years beyond the time that women stopped taking the drug. The risks of stroke, deep-vein thrombosis, and cataracts -- possible side-effects of tamoxifen treatment -- were also similar to those reported previously. ......

Common Sense by Thomas Paine - Rewritten for the Gay Man by BlueEyedLevity
Dear Thomas Paine:

I've decided to rewrite the introduction to your good piece of literature to reflect my own views on common sense (or lack thereof) with some of today's gay men.  Your original text will be in purple.  Mine will be in blue, of course.

Thank you for your time.  I know you're dead, but hey, your spirit is out there somewhere right?

Love,

Me

PERHAPS the sentiments contained in the following pages, are not yet sufficiently fashionable to procure them general favor among gay men; a long habit of not thinking that they are sometimes shallow, give them a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defence of that custom.  But tumult soon subsides.  Time makes more converts from stupidity than reason.

As a long and violent abuse of power is generally the means of calling the right of it in question, (and in matters too which might never have been thought of, had not the sufferers been aggravated into the inquiry, ) and as the king of England hath undertaken in his own right, to support the parliament in what he calls theirs, and as the good people of this country are grievously oppressed by the combination, they have an undoubted privilege to inquire into the pretensions of both, and equally to reject the usurpations of either.

As a long and violent abuse of brain power is generally the means of not using common sense in the gay community, (and in matters too which might never been though of, such as safe sex and not doing hookups 24/7), and as the queen of Gayland hath undertaken in his own right, to support all around in what he calls his domain, and as the good people of Gayland are grievously oppressed by general stupidity, they have an undoubted privilege to change their pretensions and equally to reject the stereotype and stigma that is out there.

In the following sheets, the author hath studiously avoided every thing which is personal among ourselves. Compliments as well as censure to individuals make no part thereof. The wise and the worthy need not the triumph of a pamphlet; and those whose sentiments are injudicious or unfriendly, will cease of themselves, unless too much pains is bestowed upon their conversion.

The cause of America is, in a great measure, the cause of all mankind. Many circumstances have, and will arise, which are not local, but universal, and through which the principles of all lovers of mankind are affected, and in the event of which, their affections are interested.
