Metacognition and Feeling Better

Metacognition and Feeling Better

I'm doing a happy dance right now.  Actually, no I'm not.  I'm sitting in my boxer briefs eating a piece of Panera bread.  LOL.  But it's close.

Isn't it an amazing thing to think about thinking?  Think about the process of how you think and why you think the way you think?  I think (lol) if more people thought about the way they think in certain situations, less crap would be going on in the world.  Less vacations would be taken to Texas ranches.  Less death would be occurring directly across the planet.  Superman would be everone's favorite super hero.  Vaccines would be available for free to anyone who needs them.  HIV and cancer would be stomped out.  And it would not have taken ONE campaign to help convince a G8 summit that starving, dying children truly is a bad thing.

Just a thought.  ;o)

Anyway, I'm feeling better.  Amoxicillin was my friend, and it truly saw me through to the end.  No more scratchy eye.  No more yucky sinus issues.  My fever blister is defunct and gone for good.

I love feeling better.  I also love being able to taste my food again.  Hehehe...

Think about the way you think -- it's not only healthy, you might even change your own belief system for the better.

Love,

Me

Virginia Auto Accidents: VSC Unavoidable Accident & Sudden Emergency – a Lawyer’s Instructions

On January 16, 2009, the Virginia Supreme Court issued an opinion rejecting the “unavoidable accident” and “sudden emergency” doctrines and upholding a $490, 000.00 jury award in a car accident scenario. The death and personal injury case is Hancock-Underwood v. Knight, 277 Va. 127 (2009).

Hancock-Underwood abrogated the “unavoidable accident” doctrine in Virginia. “In consideration of the prevailing concerns of the [majority] states that have rejected the instruction – that it merely restates the law of negligence, overemphasizes the defendant’s case and is apt to confuse and mislead – we join those states and hold that it is error to grant an unavoidable accident instruction.” Id. at 136.

Also, the Virginia Supreme Court upheld the “sudden emergency” doctrine in vehicle accident cases, but found that the “particular instruction tendered by Administrator concerning sudden emergency was not supported by the evidence”. Id. at 139. Specifically, the defendant driver experiencing a medical event that rendered him unconscious did not fit the following formulation: “when the driver of an automobile, without prior negligence on his part, is confronted with a sudden emergency and acts as an ordinarily prudent person would have done under the same or similar circumstances, he is not guilty of negligence.” Id. at 726.

Flippity Doo Dah Day
I'm sorry!  I know it has been forever since I've made an entry.  But, life does get in the way somtimes, you know?  :o)~

Anyway, I just finished my graduate courses for the semester and still have a 4.0!  Very exciting.  I will have my Master's degree at the end of December, and that is even more exciting!

I went to Second City with my friend Heather yesterday and it was fun as always.  They asked for suggestions for a hick song to sing for one of their skits and I shouted out, "Shave Your Back Hair!"  LOL.  The whole skit was about that.  I don't know whether I should be proud or ashamed.  I think ashamed.  But mischievously ashamed.

After Second City Heather and I went to Bahama Breeze and had dinner.  I got the seafood paella.  Um -- YUM!  It had shrimp, jumbo scallops, steamed mussels, some sort of fish, and other lovely treats.  I heart seafood.  I heart Bahama Breeze.  PS: They're Rum Runner drink is too rummy, though.

I'm about to finish the last episode of 24 - Season One on DVD.  Since I haven't had cable since 2001 (I know -- lame), I'm still enjoying the boxed sets of some really cool shows.  I gave in and went ahead and bought season two of 24 at Best Buy today -- such a rip, but I had a $25 gift card, so it made the pain a little more tolerable.

Anyway, things are going well, just working tons and heaps.  I'm working on making some t-shirts (a few are located at http://www.gayitees.com -- but I also have more on the political side that I'm working on as well).

Be good, be well, and be sane,

Me

Unhappy People
It's amazing the choices some people make in their lives.

For example, I know some poeple who are perfectly healthy.  They have good jobs.  They have good friends and acquaintances.  For some reason, though, they choose to be angry and unhappy.

I feel so sad for these people.  Even in the worst times of my life, I've always been able to find something to be happy about.  It could be as simple as finding a good friend to talk to, or a funny show to watch.  Even though I might have been down during those times, I still tried to find ways to bring myself up again.

The sad thing is that these people don't have that much to be angry or unhappy about.  They find the small things in life and focus in on them.  These people crave chaos, distrust, and discord.  It's so needless and unfortunate.

I do indeed hope, wish, and pray that these people will one day find their happy place.

Just a thought.

Be happy,

Me
