What is the most useful method for treating depression?
What is the most useful method for treating depression?

It is safe to say the most useful method for treating depression usually consists of a combination of modalities.

However, this is not to say that solutions are not within reach, quite the contrary actually. Working together, each treatment enhances the others.

Most Holistic (or otherwise alternative) methods of treating depression that lean more towards natural choices tend to emphasize the use of the following components:

1. A proper diet
2. Adequate Exercise
3. Positive Thinking

However, other tips that could come in handy and that could be combined with the options above and/or with conventional depression medications (which should be used at your own discretion), include

* Setting realistic goals in light of the depression and assume a reasonable amount of responsibility.

* Breaking large tasks into small ones, set some priorities, and do what you can as you can.

* Trying to be with other people and to confide in someone; it is usually better than being alone and secretive.

* Participating in activities that may make you feel better.

* Expecting your mood to improve gradually, not immediately. Feeling better takes time.

* Postponing important decisions until the depression has lifted.

* Letting your family and friends help you.

Remember that you are not alone and with the tips above, this author sincerely hopes that you can find what will work for you.

To Happiness,
